Intensive LDL Cholesterol Targetingin Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

For people who already have heart and blood vessel disease, lowering “bad” cholesterol (LDL) to a very low level—below 55 mg/dL—helped reduce the chances of heart problems (like heart attack or stroke) over 3 years, compared to keeping it below 70 mg/dL.
This means aiming for a lower cholesterol level can give better protection. The study was funded by the Cardiovascular Research Center and Yuhan, and is known as the Ez-PAVE trial (ClinicalTrials.gov number: NCT04626973).
